Beautiful The Carole King Musical, Opens in London’s West End at the Aldwych Theatre on the 4th Feb 2015 through to June 2015, Starring Katie Brayben as Carole King and Alan Morrissey as Gerry Goffin.
Producer Paul Blake announced that a musical version of King’s music and life would be presented on stage, titled Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, and starring Tony-nominated actress Jessie Mueller in the lead role. Beautiful premiered in a pre-Broadway run at The Curran Theatre in San Francisco in September–October 2013. Previews on Broadway began on November 21, 2013 at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre, the official opening date was January 12, 2014. The book is by Douglas McGrath with direction by Marc Bruni, choreography by Josh Prince, sets by Derek McLane, costumes by Alejo Vietti and lighting by Peter Kaczorowski.
Beautiful: The Carole King Musical was the recipient of two 2014 Tony Awards. Jessie Mueller received the 2014 Tony Award for the Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical. Brian Ronan received the 2014 Tony Award for Best Sound Design of a Musical all up it was nominated for seven Tony Awards.

Beautiful tells the story of Carole King from her early days as a Brooklyn teenager (named Carol Klein) struggling to enter the record business to her years spent as a chart-topping music legend. By the time she reached her twenties, had the husband of her dreams and a flourishing career writing hits for the biggest acts in rock ‘n’ roll. But it wasn’t until her personal life began to crack that she finally managed to find her true voice.
This inspiring true story of King’s remarkable rise to stardom, from being part of a hit song writing team with her husband Gerry Goffin, to her relationship with fellow writers and best friends Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann, to becoming one of the most successful solo acts in popular music history. Along the way, she made more than BEAUTIFUL music, she wrote the soundtrack to a generation.
