The Band’s Visit is a musical composed by David Yazbek with book by Itamar Moses. The musical is based on the 2007 film The Band’s Visit. The musical premiered Off-Broadway in December 2016 and won 11 awards, including the 2017 Obie Award for Musical Theatre, and the New York Drama Critics’ Circle award for Best Musical. It premiered on Broadway in November 2017 and has won 12 awards. At the 72nd Tony Awards, it was nominated for 11 awards, winning 10, including the 2018 Tony Award for Best Musical. The Band’s Visit is one of 4 musicals to win the “big six” Tony Awards, having won the Best Musical, Best Score, Best Book, Best Performance by a Leading Actor, Best Performance by a Leading Actress and Best Direction awards.
