Beetlejuice to Close
Beetlejuice reopened at the Marquis Theatre on Broadway in April 2022 after closing at the Wintergarden Theatre Apr 25, 2019 – Mar 10, 2020, due to the pandemic. Beetlejuice returning to Broadway in April 2022, and the musical has experienced more of a struggle at the box office.
This is the latest Broadway production to post a closing notice in recent weeks (Jan 08, 2023), following the closures of The Phantom of the Opera, the longest running musical on Broadway. Beetlejuice will also launch a 26-city national tour starting Dec. 6 at San Francisco’s Golden Gate Theatre.

Beetlejuice is a musical with music and lyrics by Eddie Perfect and book by Scott Brown and Anthony King. It is based on the 1988 film of the same name. The story concerns a deceased couple who try to haunt the new inhabitants of their former home and call for help from a devious bio-exorcist ghost named Betelgeuse (pronounced “Beetlejuice”), who is summoned by saying his name three times. One of the new inhabitants is a young girl, Lydia, who is dealing with her mother’s death and her neglectful father.
