Cagney
Cagney is the dramatic new musical that follows the life of the legendary James Cagney from the streets of New York to his rise as one of the brightest stars of Hollywood, from a vaudeville song-and-dance man to the cinema’s original tough guy. In this insightful and surprising musical journey, a brand new original score filled with show stopping song-and-dance numbers is augmented by George M. Cohan songs.
James Cagney could do it all – sing, dance, play the bad guy, the good guy, the patriot, the gangster. Broadway’s Robert Creighton, in the role he was born to play, leads a cast of six who tap dance through a score that blends original music with classic George M. Cohan favourites, including Give My Regards To Broadway, Grand Old Flag, and Yankee Doodle Dandy.

Robert Creighton
In 2003 he was cast in his first Broadway show conceived by and starring the comedian Jackie Mason, called LAUGHING ROOM ONLY. It played a few months in Nyack, NY and then moved to Broadway in the fall where it previewed for four weeks and then ended abruptly two weeks after its opening night. It was, nonetheless, a highlight and a fulfillment of a dream to finally have made it to the great white way!
This began a series of Broadway shows including Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Chicago and Anything Goes. During this time he began some episodic work on television including guest starring appearances on LAW AND ORDER and LIFE ON MARS. He maintains a voice over career including spots for: AT&T, Verizon, Splenda, Port Authority of NY, Buffalo Wild Wings and others. His voice can be heard in two recent feature films as a Singing Thug in Disney’s animated feature TANGLED, and The Nutcracker as side kick to John Turturro’s Rat King! He has participated in countless readings and workshops of new musicals and continues to perform regionally, most notably as James Cagney in the show he conceived and co-authored, CAGNEY!
CAGNEY! won Florida’s 2010 Carbonell award for “Best New Work” and has set box office records in two of its three productions to date. It is Robert’s dream to bring this show to Broadway and perform this role in New York City in the very near future.
