Beautiful the Carole King Story
Producer Paul Blake announced that a musical version of King’s music and life would be presented on stage 2013, titled Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, and starring Tony-nominated actress Jessie Mueller in the lead role. Beautiful premiered in a pre-Broadway run at The Curran Theatre in San Francisco in September – October 2013. Previews on Broadway began on November 21, 2013 at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre, the official opening January 12, 2014. The book is by Douglas McGrath with direction by Marc Bruni, choreography by Josh Prince, sets by Derek McLane, costumes by Alejo Vietti and lighting by Peter Kaczorowski.
