JAMES BARBOUR (The Phantom of the Opera) has starred on Broadway as Sydney Carton in A Tale of Two Cities (Drama Desk, Drama League, Outer Critics Circle awards nominations), Czolgosz in Assassins, The Beast in Beauty & the Beast, Billy Bigelow in Carousel, Officer Lockstock in Urinetown and Edward Rochester in Jane Eyre (Drama League nomination). James also appeared on Broadway in Cyrano, opposite Jeremy Irons in Camelot and in the national tour of The Secret Garden. Other recent credits: Jean Valjean in Les Misérables (LA Ovation Award, Best Actor), Daryl Van Horne in The Witches of Eastwick (U.S. premiere), Daddy Hogan in Anna Nicole (BAM). TV: “The District,” “Just Shoot Me,” “Flashpoint,” “Sex and the City,” “Ed,” “That’s Life,” “Beauty & the Beast in Concert” (CBS), “Great Performances,” “An American Experience,” “A Tale of Two Cities” (PBS). Christine – Ali Ewoldt
Ali Ewoldt made her Broadway debut in 2006 in Mr. Mackintosh’s first Broadway revival of Les Misérables as Cosette. She joins direct from playing Tuptim in the Chicago Lyric Opera production of The King & I. She also appeared in the original cast of the current Lincoln Center Theater production. Other credits include Luisa in The Fantasticks (Off-Broadway), Maria in West Side Story (first national tour), Lili in Carnival! (Musicals Tonight) and the national tour of Les Misérables. Born outside of Chicago and raised in Pleasantville, NY, she has a BA in Psychology from Yale University.
Christine – Kaley Ann Voorhees
ALEY ANN VOORHEES Christine Daaé at certain performances is thrilled to be back in Phantom, where she made her Broadway debut as the youngest person to play Christine in the New York production. She comes directly from the original cast of Hal Prince’s Prince of Broadway, after being part of the original Japanese tour. She made her opera debut this winter in New York City Opera’s Candide. Raoul, Vicomte de Chagny – Rodney Ingram
Rodney Ingram is elated to join the Phantom cast! He was last seen understudying the title role in Disney’s Aladdin on Broadway. MAREE JOHNSON (Madame Giry) is thrilled to be returning to The Phantom of the Opera and making her Broadway debut! Born in Sydney and now living in Manhattan, Maree played Christine Daaé in Cameron Mackintosh’s Australian production. Other Australian credits include Cats (Grizabella), Les Misérables, West Side Story (Maria), My Fair Lady (Eliza), Scrooge (Isabel/Helen), two concert productions of Follies (Young Heidi, Young Sally) and the lead in Sondheim’s You’re Gonna Love Tomorrow at Sydney Opera House. Maree’s U.S. credits include Zorba (The Widow), Passion (Fosca, Barrymore Award nomination) and Myths & Hymns (Emily). As always, love and thanks to Jason, Audra and Helena.
Ubaldo Piangi – Carlton Moe
CARLTON MOE (Ubaldo Piangi). Heralded by The New York Times as an “ardent tenor,” Carlton Moe debuted at Carnegie Hall with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra in 2013. A native of Portland, Oregon, he has performed with such organizations as the Oregon Symphony, Walla Walla Symphony, Aspen Music Festival, Napa Music Festival, Savannah Voice Festival, Opera in Williamsburg, Charlottesville Symphony Society, and the Martina Arroyo Foundation. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Portland State University and a Master of Music degree from Manhattan School of Music, where he attended on a full scholarship.
Meg Giry – Kara Klein
