Rocky on Broadway to Close 17th August 2014 after 6 Month Run.

Rocky on Broadway will close Sunday, August 17, producers announced today 17th July, Rocky on Broadway opened on March 13th 2014 with 28 previews and would have run 188 regular performances.

Rocky was knocked around by the critics, and most claimed that the fight scene was the best 15 minutes of the show. One would think Rocky would had big crowds with the New York summer visitors, however with an over crowed Broadway most have stayed away. The Wintergarden Theatre has been running at only 50% occupancy and the cost of running big Broadway shows is huge, Rocky did have a good run with it’s out of town run in Germany in 2012.

The Musical directed by Alex Timbers with a score by Lynn Aherns and Stephen Flaherty, it really is a must see, so rush now and catch it before August 17.

Cast includes: Andy Karl, Margo Seibert, Terence Archie, Dakin Matthews,Danny Mastrogiorgio

Heathers the Musical to Close August 4th 2014 at New World Stages

When Heathers the Musical closes, it would have played 17 previews and 145 regular performances. The musical arrived in New York following a sold-out 2013 Los Angeles premiere. Heathers: The Musical is a rock musical with music, lyrics, and a book by Laurence O’Keefe and Kevin Murphy and based on the 1988 film Heathers.

The show’s director, Andy Fickman, had been working with Daniel Waters (the screenwriter of the film) on the musical. After seeing Laurence O’Keefe’s work with Legally Blonde and how he transitioned film to theatre, he decided to pair him with Reefer Madness collaborator Kevin Murphy. Flickman said of the experience, “we found that Heathers gave a great deal of opportunity for ‘80s commentary and a great chance for music and storytelling”.
