Stephen Sondheim – Dies at 91

Tributes have poured in from Broadway and film stars in honor of Stephen Sondheim Sondheim, the legendary musical theater composer and lyricist of musicals including West Side Story, Company, Sweeney Todd  Sondheim died at his home in Roxbury on Friday November 26, 2021, at the age of 91

Sondheim has been described as introverted and solitary. In an interview with Frank Rich, he said, “The outsider feeling—somebody whom people want to both kiss and kill—occurred quite early in my life”. He did not come out as gay until he was 40.He lived with dramatist Peter Jones for eight years in the 1990s. The composer married Jeffrey Scott Romley on December 31, 2017;together they owned two black French Poodle dogs. They lived in Manhattan and Roxbury, Connecticut.
